Goodmayes is a district in northeast London, It is a suburban development in the London Borough of Redbridge and forms part of the Ilford post town. Goodmayes was part of the Municipal Borough of Ilford until 1965 when it was incorporated into Greater London. Goodmayes was largely undeveloped until the end of the 19th century, when large scale suburban development took place as London expanded.

Goodmayes has a very large area of open space, known as Goodmayes Park. The Park has a lake, basketball and tennis courts located inside the area. There are also outdoor fitness equipment for all to use. Goodmayes Park also had a bandstand and a boathouse but they are no longer there. Goodmayes has the most notable scout group, known as 4^th Goodmayes, who are located on Barley Lane next to St Pauls Church. The scout group has been established for 86 years, and their home is traditionally called the Gaffery. The scout group’s current home is incorporated within the St Paul’s Community Centre, which opened in 2006. Ages start from 6 up to 14 with the three sections called the Beavers, the Cubs and the Scouts.
